This weekend I was able to get two chapters recorded for the audio book. It went smoothly, but I didn't have time to do more.
I was kinda beating myself up for that when my wife reminded me that I don't need to be so hard on myself. I have plenty of time before launch comes to get the audio book finished.
She's right, and if I put too much pressure on myself, I'll get burned out. You'll often hear authors talk about that. Just think, George RR Martin has been working on one of his book for eight years now. So burn out is real, and it's certainly something I want to avoid.
I have come up with a new organization for my life that does allow me to work on my books fairly consistently. I'm pretty happy with it, and I'm hoping I'll be able to maintain it for the next several months at the very least.
That said, this week is looking horrendous at work. I'll be staying late more nights for one reason or another, so the odds of me getting any further recordings done this week appear grim. If I do, though, I'll be thrilled.
